Spanish Fork • Wildlife officials have trapped a bear seen near a golf course in Spanish Fork only days after a bear cub was caught in the same area.

The Daily Herald reports that the Division of Wildlife Resources says the bear trapped early Monday is the mother of the cub caught on Oct. 8. The division's Riley Peck says the cub was yearling and was not traveling with its mother.

Peck says bears are nearing their hibernation season but people should still be aware of wildlife wandering into their neighborhoods.

A cougar was also seen in near the Spanish Oaks Golf Course earlier this month. It has not been caught.
