C3 expanding, adding 1,000 call-center jobs

C3/CustomerContactChannels is looking to hire 1,100 people to work at its call center at 5215 W. Wiley Post Way in Salt Lake City.

President and Chif Operatsing Officer Rick Ferry said C3 is ramping up to meet the needs of new and existing clients, many in the health-care industry as it gears up for fall insurance enrollments.

Besides Utah, C3 has call centers in Idaho, Nevada, Arizona, Texas, Oklahoma and three foreign countries — the Philippines, Bulgaria and Guatemala.

The company is offering health insurance and 401(k) benefits, Ferry said, as well as other incentives such as this month's contest to win a car based on achieving performance milestones.

Park City commits to changing its electrical consumption

Park City is the latest mountain-resort community to commit to changing its electrical consumption to protect the snow that fuels the town's winter economy.

Mayor Jack Thomas signed a document committing the city to have all of its electricity generated by renewable sources by 2032. "I am Pro Snow" is the theme of The Climate Reality Project's "100% Committed" campaign.

Thomas was joined at the signing by Climate Reality Project program manager Talya Tavor, professional skier and Park City resident McKenna Peterson and city environmental sustainability manager Luke Cartin.

Utah's unemployment insurance program gets Triple Crown award for 5th time

For the fifth time, the U.S. Department of Labor awarded Utah's unemployment insurance program a "Triple Crown" award for operating faster and more effectively than jobless divisions in other mid-sized states.

Part of the state Department of Workforce Services, the unemployment program was judged on three functions — benefit payments, appeals decisions and tax operations. The award was presented at a conference in New Orleans.

New Balance joins collection of retailers at Tanger Outlet Center

New Balance shoe store is joining the collection of retailers at the Tanger Outlet Center outside of Park City.

Outlet General Manager Candice Wilson said the addition of a company in the footwear and athletic-wear categories brings more diversity to the group of merchandisers there now.

Based in Greensbsoro, N.C., Tanger is a publicly trade real estate investment trust (REIT) that has 43 upscale outlet shopping centers and two more under construction. These shopping centers are in 21 states and Canada and attract 185 million shoppers annually, Wilson added.

Lehi is site of 100th Cafe Rio Mexican restaurant

Lehi is the site of the 100th Cafe Rio Mexican Grill restaurant.

Founded 19 years ago in St. George and now based in Salt Lake City, Cafe Rio brought in the Skyridge High School marching band and cheerleaders to inaugurate the store at 1851 W. Traverse Parkway on. Thursday.

The Jazz Bear and Gov. Gary Herbert also were on hand to watch Lehi Mayor Bert Wilson give restaurant officials a key to the city, said Cafe Rio spokeswoman Jennifer Burns.

She said the company will donate $2,500 to Utah Food Bank as part of its grand-opening ceremony.
