Widely regarded as one of the top returning shooters in the state, Woods Cross guard Trevin Knell announced his commitment to play basketball at California on Tuesday afternoon.

"Today is a day I've waited for since I was first able to shoot a basketball," Knell wrote on Twitter. "I've been blessed with great coaches, family and friends that have always been with me. Its [sic] with great excitement that I have committed to play for University of California Berkeley."

According to ESPN, which designates Knell as a three-star prospect, he maintains offers from Air Force, Montana, Rice, Robert Morris, San Diego, Santa Clara, Southern Utah, Utah State, Utah Valley, Washington State, Weber State and Wyoming in addition to California.

ESPN ranks Knell (6-5, 185 pounds) as the second-best local prospect from the Class of 2017 behind Bingham four-star power forward Branden Carlson.

Knell wasn't the only local recruit to announce his commitment on Tuesday, either. Wasatch Academy Class of 2017 three-star power forward Josip Vrankic pledged to Santa Clara. Vrankic owns offers from DePaul, Princeton, San Diego, San Francisco and Tulane, according to Scout.
