Last month, Salt Lake Tribune photographer Lennie Mahler and his friends hiked Paria Canyon — the winding, red, Navajo sandstone canyon that begins in southern Utah — to Lees Ferry in Arizona.

It was a 44-mile, 4-day haul through some of the greatest scenery in the American Southwest. Here's a photo gallery from Mahler's hike.
