A flash-flood warning issued Thursday evening includes Grand Staircase National Monument in southern Utah.

The warning, expected to last until 12:30 a.m. Friday, covers the central portion of Kane County, according to the National Weather Service.

Rangers at the monument reported flash flooding at the headwaters of the Paria River, the weather service states. Forecasters expect high flows to reach the U.S. Highway 89 bridge about 10 p.m.

"Be especially cautious at night," the weather service warns, "when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding."
