A Carbon County man has died after a swimming mishap at Sand Hollow Reservoir near Hurricane over the weekend.
Nicholas Floyde, 21, was swimming with friends on Saturday when he had trouble staying afloat, according to a state parks news release. Friends tried to help Floyde and rushed to get help from a search and rescue that was training nearby.
Rescuers got Floyde into a boat and began emergency medical procedures, before transporting him by ambulance to Dixie Regional Medical Center in St. George.
According to the release, Floyde was removed from life support on Sunday afternoon and died.
State park officials say Floyde's death is the eleventh recreational drowning in Utah this year. Floyde was not wearing a life jacket.
