Utah has gained the reputation of being a recruiting hotbed throughout the past several years, with multiple players generating national attention with four- and five-star rankings, but what about the players currently playing the role of submarine, swimming beneath the radar of collegiate recruiters?

Bingham junior receiver Brayden Cosper is a prime example. He currently has zero offers. Zip. None. How is that possible? Boise State has expressed interest, but now that Bingham is placing a higher emphasis in the passing game, it feels as if it's only a matter of time before Cosper evolves into a household name.

Yet he's not the only hidden gem.

East's Jaylen Warren has been overlooked despite rushing for nearly 2,000 yards and 19 touchdowns last year. This season, he's on a record-breaking pace, having already accumulated 641 yards and six touchdowns on 45 carries. That's 213 yards per game and 14.2 yards per carry.

Although Alta's Josh Davis has several college offers, he's still not generating an immense amount of hype. He's rushed for 536 yards and six touchdowns on 51 attempts for the 3-0 Hawks.

Here are several other players worth keeping an eye on. They're not all necessarily next-level prospects, but they're great high school athletes: Ben Lomond's Angelo Rios, Fremont's Haze Hadley, Skyridge's Wyatt Parkinson, Salem Hills' Vili Wolfgramm and West Jordan's Dylan Krans.

Streak snapped

Ridgeline is starting to live up to preseason expectations. The RiverHawks, in their first year of existence, were projected to win their region and compete for a state championship. Yes, it's the preseason, but after back-to-back wins against Provo and Spanish Fork, it's abundantly clear. Now, about that 17-0 win against the Dons on Friday. According to prep football historian George Felt, it snapped Spanish Fork's streak of 127 straight games without a shutout, the fifth-longest active streak and the eighth-longest in state history.

Two locals honored

Scout recruiting unveiled its "Ultimate West Team" comprised of the best football prospects from the classes of 2017, 2018 and 2019. The team had 24 players rather than the accustomed 22 — 11 players on each side — with the addition of an "athlete" on both sides of the ball. Two of those players were from the state of Utah.

Bingham's Class of 2017 four-star defensive tackle Jay Tufele was one of four players selected on the mythical defensive front. Tufele has yet to play this season after injuring his foot in the preseason. He was once again in a walking boot during the Miners' 42-21 win against Lone Peak on Friday.

Desert Hills' Class of 2018 four-star offensive tackle Penei Sewell joined Tufele on the list. He's the top-rated tackle for his classification, and could very likely wind up being the most-recruited player in state history.

Both players suit up for teams ranked No. 1 in their classification, with Bingham in 5A and Desert Hills in 3AA.
