Zion National Park officials closed a portion of Zion Canyon on Saturday due to flash flood warnings.

The Narrows, the tightest section of the canyon, was temporarily off-limits to visitors. The flash flood warning, issued by the National Weather Service, ended about 12 p.m.

The popular hiking trail winds through a slot canyon along the Virgin River, which runs higher and faster when summer storms pass through, posing a potential danger to hikers.
