An early Monday morning fire heavily damaged two vacant homes in Taylorsville.

Unified Fire Authority crews, with help from neighboring fire departments, quickly doused the 4:30 a.m. blazes in the 5100 South block of Huntington Road (3380 West), public safety dispatchers confirmed.

No injuries were reported, said UFA spokesman Matthew McFarland.

The cause of the fires, reportedly beginning along the side of a home being renovated and spreading to one next door, was under investigation.

An estimate of damages was not immediately available, but one of the homes — where the fire is believed to have started — reportedly contained personal property of a renter evicted earlier this month.
