Eight days after David Corey Heisler vanished from his Santa Clara home, police have arrested two people, including the mother of the missing man's child, on suspicion of kidnapping and other charges related to the disappearance.

Francis Lee McCard, 55, and Kelley Marie Perry, 31, both of Washington City, were each booked into the Washington County jail on Tuesday on suspicion of aggravated kidnapping, aggravated burglary and theft of a motor vehicle, according to Officer Chad Holt, spokesman for the Santa Clara Ivins Police Department.

McCard is being held without bail and Perry's bail is set a $100,000, cash-only.

Heisler and Perry have a daughter and court records show they have been battling over custody and other issues for at least three years.

At the conclusion of a June 13 hearing, 5th District Judge G. Michael Westfall awarded sole custody of the child to the 30-year-old Heisler and ordered that Perry's parenting time continue to be supervised.

A GoFundMe page was set up Saturday seeking help in finding Heisler and keeping his daughter with her grandparents. The girl is 6, and she and Heisler had been living with his father and stepmother, according to the page.

Debbie Heisler, Heisler's stepmother, filed a petition June 30 in 5th District Court seeking custody of the child, three days after David Heisler went missing.

Police have been looking for David Heisler since he disappeared June 27 under "suspicious circumstances," and he remains missing.

His 2002 Saturn was found Friday abandoned in Beaver Dam, Ariz., an unincorporated community in Mohave County.

He was last seen at 3 a.m. June 27, and was reported missing that day, Holt said. Police have said some items were missing from the house.

E. Christian Warmsley, a St. George private investigator who has been working on behalf of the Heislers in the child custody case, said more than 100 people helped search for David Heisler on Sunday. He added that the Heisler family would like to thank the Walmarts in Bloomington and Washington, Harmons Grocery and Lin's Market for providing beverage and snacks for the searchers.

The FBI, Mojave County Sheriff's Department and the Bureau of Land Management are assisting in the investigation of Heisler's disappearance.

Heisler is white, 6 foot 1 and 180 pounds and has dark brown hair. Anyone who knows his whereabouts is asked to contact the Washington County dispatch or the Santa Clara Ivins Police Department at 435-634-5730.
