A man who once served as an attorney for Utah kidnapper Brian David Mitchell in San Diego has been arrested and charged with possessing and attempting to distribute child pornography.
Court documents state that David Dale Lamb possessed 849 digital images and 112 videos that showed minors, many prepubescent children, engaging in sexually explicit conduct. The titles and descriptions of these files were indicative of child pornography.
Federal agents tracked down Lamb in September after they traced to his computer an IP address found on a file-sharing site used for child pornography. On the encrypted site, Lamb's username, "sdattorney" was linked to several explicit chats and at least two folders, one of which was titled "babyrape."
Before the search, Lamb had been working in the San Diego County Public Defender's Office and had once served as the "top manager for San Diego County's juvenile branch," according to a report from San Diego NBC 7.
A warrant was issued for his arrest on May 24, court documents show, and he was taken into custody the next day. Lamb later posted a $50,000 bond.
Lamb pleaded not guilty to charges Wednesday, according to an article from The San Diego Union-Tribune.
Mitchell, whom Lamb represented in California, is serving a life term in prison for kidnapping Elizabeth Smart in Utah in 2002.
