A man was arrested after allegedly firing shots at officers Saturday night, according to Salt Lake City Police Lt. Michael Hatch.

The man had allegedly shown some Salt Lake City residents a weapon, threatened them, and left at about 9:30 p.m., Hatch said. Police were at the residence when the man allegedly returned and opened fire, shooting nine rounds, Hatch said.

No one was hit by the bullets, but Hatch said the man was arrested in West Valley City and booked into the Salt Lake County jail in the early hours of Sunday morning.

The man had been on parole for a previous crime, and has a gang affiliation, Hatch said.

The man's name had not been released by police.
