More than 400 students are expected to graduate from the Davis Applied Technology College on Thursday, the largest class in the school's history.

An announcement released by the school said 410 graduates would collect certificates during a ceremony at Davis High School's auditorium.

The Davis Applied Technology College, one of eight campuses in Utah's Applied Technology College system, administers 28 certification programs in areas like business, construction, manufacturing and health.

In a prepared statement, DATC President Michael Bouwhuis said the school's "highly skilled and talented" students will enhance Utah's thriving job market.

"Our students have strong perseverance and in some cases, overcome extraordinary challenges while attending college as an adult, as a single parent, or while working a full-time job," he said.

Speakers at Thursday's ceremony include North Salt Lake Republican Rep. Becky Edwards and Danielle Palmer, a digital media design graduate and the school's student of the year.

Palmer said in a prepared statement that she considers DATC to be synonymous with opportunity.

"I will be forever grateful that my educational path has taken me through DATC," she said.

DATC, which was established in 1978, holds three graduation ceremonies each year.

Thursday's 410-student class is the largest number for a single ceremony, with the school regularly graduating more than 1,000 students each year.
