Kansas City, Kan. • The Real Salt Lake starting lineup Saturday featured the club's preferred center back pairing for the first time this month.

Aaron Maund returned to the field after missing the past three weeks with a hamstring strain. He stood alongside Justen Glad, who walked into a comfort zone Saturday. In his last appearance at Children's Mercy Park in Kansas City, Glad scored his first career professional goal off a set piece, igniting a 2-1 win on April 2.

Left back Demar Phillips was available off the bench Saturday after nursing a groin strain.

The long and winding road

Real Salt Lake filed into Children's Mercy Park about 90 minutes before kickoff Saturday and crammed into the visitor's locker room in the belly of the venue.

The club will need to get used to the tight quarters — if it's not already.

The match Saturday marked the third game in a five-game road trip for Real Salt Lake — the longest in club history — as Rio Tinto Stadium installs a new surface.

Nine of the club's first 13 games are on the road. It has won all four of its home games this season.

Real Salt Lake's fourth-round match in the U.S. Open Cup on June 14 will mark the re-opening of the venue. It will host the winner of the Wilmington Hammerheads (United Soccer League) and Miami FC (North American Soccer League) in the Open Cup match.

One more time

Sporting KC and Real Salt Lake will meet for the third and final time this year on Oct. 16, the lone regular season matchup at Rio Tinto Stadium in 2016.

Real Salt Lake was a perfect 2-0 against Sporting KC on its home field last season, pulling out a pair of 2-1 victories.
