Syracuse police, alarmed by two reports of attempted child abductions over the past week, are enlisting the public's help in finding the suspects.

Police in the Davis County town say the alleged abortive kidnappings — the first on April 28 and the second on Wednesday — both occurred in the vicinity of Bluff Ridge Elementary.

The suspects in the first incident were young males, described as having "tan colored skin," in a silver car. In the second incident, the suspect was an older man, wearing a black hat, and driving a white SUV.

In a Facebook posting (https://www.facebook.com/permalink.php?story_fbid=1076317302406794&id=134324789939388&fref=nf), police said they had studied sex-offender records for the area, and were checking to see if security cameras from businesses near the school may provide images of the suspects.

"Additionally, we have been in contact with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and asked them to check for similar reports in our region," the statement noted.

Bluff Ridge Elementary has also emailed all parents within the school service area about the incidents.

Anyone with information about these incidents should call Syracuse police at 801-825-4400.
