Unified Police say a Kearns woman riding a bicycle was struck by a car and fatally injured late Sunday night.

The accident occurred 9:05 p.m. at 5415 S. Northwest Ave. (4725 West), public safety dispatchers confirmed.

Connie Stewart Marconato, 57, was rushed to the hospital in critical condition, but was pronounced a dead a short time later.

UPD Detective Chuck Malm said Marconato was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident and sustained severe head trauma.

The cause of the accident remained under investigation, but Malm said it was nighttime, and the victim was wearing dark clothing as she attempted to ride her bike across the intersection in a crosswalk.

She was struck by an eastbound Hyundai sedan. The male driver was unhurt.
