A teenager was dead and three men were in police custody after a shooting Thursday in northwestern Salt Lake City.

Salt Lake City police identified the deceased as Jose Javier Fernandez, 18. Fernandez was found dead at 211 N. Cornell St. by officers responding to 911 calls reporting gunfire about 7:30 p.m. Thursday.

Two 20-year-old suspects, James W. Williams and William A. P-Graham, were booked into the Salt Lake County Jail on suspicion of first-degree felony aggravated murder and obstruction of justice.

A third suspect, 25-year-old Gaethan Laguerre, turned himself into police Friday afternoon. Salt Lake City police earlier in the day asked for the public's help in finding him.

"Williams indicated he drove the men to the home," according to a jail document. "He said his responsibility in the crime was to remove the children from the home so the third-party shooter could have clear access to the home in which to shoot the victim."

In the same jail document, P-Graham said that once the children were taken down the street by Williams, "he was 'forced' by the shooter to accompany him into the home where he was told to witness the shooting."

After the shooting, the men allegedly fled, with P-Graham allegedly driving the shooter from the scene, the jail document adds.

Police did not reveal details about the slaying, other than to say Fernandez suffered multiple gunshot wounds, and then did not say how they tracked down the suspects.
