A 53-year-old Utah man has died after the dump truck he was driving rolled down a quarry pit in north Salt Lake City on Tuesday.

Blaine Linck was driving the truck at the Stake-Parson quarry operation near 2080 N. Beck Street just after 11 p.m. on Tuesday when he backed the truck up too far and rolled down the pit, Salt Lake City police reported Wednesday.

When his coworkers realized they couldn't find Linck, they began searching for him, according to KUTV. They found him inside the dump truck, which was partially submerged in water at the base of the quarry.

The workers were able to pull Linck from the vehicle, according to police, but he died on the scene despite life-saving efforts from paramedics.
