A New Jersey man died Monday after crashing into a tree at Snowbasin Ski Resort, the Weber County Sheriff's Office reported.

Frank Maddaloni, 56, from Califon, N.J., was skiing alone when the accident occurred and was not wearing a helmet, according to a news release.

He was discovered by a friend and was unconscious when ski patrol and medical teams arrived following an 11:39 a.m. call.
