St. George • Officials with Zion National Park say the support the idea of a direct bus line between the park and St. George.

Local leaders have commissioned a feasibility study looking into the possibility of a mass transit line to take riders between St. George and Springdale.

Park officials say the proposed transit system could augment the success of the existing shuttle bus system within the park, which helps cut down on congestion, preserve air quality and make it easier for visitors to see popular attractions.

St. George officials are most concerned with the cost, which previous studies have shown could be up to $2 million to create the route and another $1 million in annual operating costs.
