Updated map shows where broadband service is available

An updated map showing where broadband services are available in residential areas has been released by the Utah Broadband Outreach Center.

The center, a branch of the Governor's Office of Economic Development, collects data from more than 60 broadband providers in the state. This latest version, said center director Kelleigh Cole, lets users check out providers in their area by speed and technology type. It is also color coded by technologies that distinguish between fixed wire, wireless and cellular data services.

"Broadband is a crucial component of economic development," said GOED Executive Director Val Hale, contending Utah has the country's third fastest Internet speeds.
