A man was arrested after an 11-hour standoff with Davis County sheriff's deputies and Clinton police officers Friday.

Public safety dispatchers said no shots had been fired in the incident, which began at 7:50 a.m. outside a home near 3000 West and 1400 North in Clinton.

The incident reportedly began when a sheriff's deputy spotted a man with several active arrest warrants in the area. When the deputy confronted the man, he fled into a house and refused to come out.

Clinton police soon arrived in support of the deputy, and SWAT officers were dispatched to the scene after it was learned there were firearms inside the residence.

By 6:15 p.m., police said the man surrendered after a police dog found him "in the attic, under some insulation," KUTV reported.

Residents of neighboring homes were evacuated for the duration of the standoff.
