The industrial conglomerate gained ground after its fourth-quarter earnings report.

• Visa Inc., up $5.16 to $74.49

Strong fourth-quarter results sent the credit card company's stock higher.

• AbbVie Inc., down 95 cents to $54.90

The drugmaker fell on concerns about competition and the pricing of key drugs.

Nasdaq

• Microsoft Corp., up $3.04 to $55.09

The tech giant reported strong results for cloud computing, PC software, Surface tablets and Xbox game consoles.

• Amazon.com Inc., down $48.35 to $587

The e-commerce company reported higher costs, and its profit fell far short of Wall Street's estimates.

• Electronic Arts Inc., down $5.24 to $64.55

Investors were disappointed by the high number of disc sales of "Star Wars: Battlefront" compared to more profitable downloads.

• Gilead Sciences Inc., down $4.53 to $83

The drugmaker said John Martin, its CEO since 1998 and chairman since 2008, will give up those roles in March.
