Police have identified a woman found dead by a hiker along St. George's Halfway Wash Trail.

Natasha Calderon, 31, of St. George, was identified through personal effects found with her remains, which were discovered about 1 p.m. Thursday in City Creek, just off the trail, police confirmed on Friday.

Police did not disclose how long the badly decomposed body had been in the area, but did say that there were no initial signs of trauma.

The cause of death will be determined by the State Medical Examiner's Office, which planned an autopsy, police said.

St. George police detectives were just beginning their investigation into the circumstances of Calderon's death, and how and when she came to be in the area.
