A federal grand jury has indicted a man in the November shooting death of a woman on the Navajo Nation Reservation in San Juan County.

Timothy Lee Smith, 45, a member of the Navajo Nation, was charged with "first-degree murder within Indian country" in the death of Maranny Hatalie Holiday, who was shot and killed Nov. 30, according to the indictment, released Wednesday.

San Juan County Sheriff Rick Eldredge has said that the 65-year-old woman was reportedly killed in a property dispute.

The shooting occurred on the Navajo reservation, just yards into Utah from the state's border with Arizona.

Smith also was charged with being a felon in possession of a firearm.
