Homeless advocate Pamela Atkinson and other community leaders served their annual Christmas dinner to more than 800 homeless Utahns on Friday at St. Vincent de Paul Dining Hall in downtown Salt Lake City.

Atkinson and others have been providing Christmas dinner for 14 years to those in need.

Volunteers and steaks with holiday side dishes were provided and donated by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and the Grand America Hotel.

President Dieter F. Uchtdorf, second counselor in the LDS Church's governing First Presidency, helped serve meals as well.

The dining hall is run by Catholic Community Services of Utah, which assists families and individuals of all faiths and beliefs along the Wasatch Front.
