"Art Dog! Art Dog! Art Dog!" chanted first graders from Whittier and Newman elementary schools after a Tuesday morning performance at the Salt Lake Acting Company. The shout-outs honored the show's hero (actor Alexis Baigue), a security guard at the Dogopolis Art Museum who bravely rescues the stolen Mona Wolfa painting after a paint fight. After the show, students asked the "Art Dog" cast questions about their costumes, about who painted the dog-eared art masterpieces hanging on set walls, and whether or not one character had actually kissed another during the onstage action. More than 1,700 students from area Title 1 elementary schools will attend matinee performances during the theater company's seventh annual kids show, which continues with day and weekend performances through Dec. 23.
