A missing California man was found dead Monday about one mile from where he had set up a deer hunting camp in Iron County, police said.
The man, 70, had arrived in Utah on Thursday, but had not spoken to family for two days when they reported him missing to police Saturday night, Iron County Sheriff's Lt. Del Schlosser said.
A search and rescue team scoured the area near Buckskin Road and Highway 20 in the northeast part of the county Saturday night and again Sunday. Searchers easily found the camp, but there was no sign of the man, Schlosser said.
A search resumed again at 8 a.m. Monday morning. A rescue team located the man's body about one mile from his campsite.
Schlosser said the death is not considered suspicious, but an autopsy will be conducted by the state medical examiner's office to determine an exact cause of death.
The man's name was not released, pending the notification of his family, Schlosser said.
