The days of "Huntsman Takeover" appear to be over.

The Utes sold out their home arena for the first time this season for BYU. At pregame introductions, set to the strains of the Beastie Boys, a full house roared from the stands with a smattering of blue shirts in the stands during Utah's "red-out" promotion. Students reportedly waited outside Huntsman Center for front-row seats when doors opened 2 hours prior to the game.

To add to the atmosphere, the athletic department handed out 8,000 red glowsticks.

The announced attendance was 15,131. It's a far cry from the start of head coach Larry Krystkowiak's tenure, when the Utes had 10,327 fans in attendance for the BYU game, many of them from down south.

A vocal group of BYU students in the top deck of Huntsman Center kept the spirit of the rivalry going, however.

Poeltl, Collinsworth on watch lists

Things the Utes and Cougars have in common: a winning record, a state and two of the top basketball players in the country.

Even before tip-off on Wednesday night, a few more lauditory honors rolled in for Utah sophomore center Jakob Poeltl and senior guard Kyle Collinsworth. Both were named to the Naismith Trophy watchlist and the Oscar Robinson Award watchlist on Wednesday afternoon.

To be sure: Early season watchlists are a mile long. The Naismith list featured 50 candidates, and the Robinson list had 33.

But it wasn't without merit: Each player led his team in scoring coming into the game, with Poeltl leading Utah in rebounding and Collinsworth leading BYU in assists.

Chapman good to go for Utes

Sophomore Brekkott Chapman was able to play Wednesday night in the rivalry game, as the Utes were fully healthy to start the contest.

Chapman exited his last two games early with ankle issues, spraining his ankle against Temple in Puerto Rico, and aggravating the injury against Idaho State. He practiced on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Briefly

Utah's front court made a much stronger impression quickly compared to the last game: After combining for 13 points in Provo last December, Poeltl and Kyle Kuzma combined for 21 points in the first half alone. Jordan Loveridge, who was out with injury, also scored 8 points in the first half.
