A Summit County road was partially reopened Tuesday after it was closed Monday evening due to a hazardous-material spill.

The North Summit Fire District says about 11,000 gallons of gasoline, butane and propane leaked from a pipeline about 14 miles east of Coalville.

Citation Oil and Gas Corp. noticed the break in the underground pipeline after the chemicals bubbled to the surface, said fire district spokesman Tyler Rowser. Fire crews were called to the scene, near 3303 Chalk Creek Road, at about 7:45 p.m. Monday.

Chalk Creek Road was closed overnight, and fire officials said Tuesday at about 10 a.m. that crews were in the area determining "if explosive gases have dissipated enough" to reopen the road.

Just before 11 a.m., officials said one lane of Chalk Creek Road had been reopened.
