New Orleans All-Star Anthony Davis played all but four minutes, scored a game-high 36 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to go with three blocked shots.

Lacking a superstar of their own, the Utah Jazz do their work by committee — and that was good enough to beat Davis and the Pelicans on Saturday night.

"Tonight the big thing for me is we had multiple guys score down the stretch," Jazz coach Quin Snyder said. "Rodney [Hood] got a couple free throws. Gordon [Hayward] hit a three, got to the line. Alec obviously hit some big shots. That's how I would like it to kind of evolve down the stretch during crunch time."

Hood finished the night with 16 points and four assists. Hayward added 17 points.

"It's hard to guard when you're getting that many contributions from everybody," he said after the Jazz improved to 8-7.

In a 101-87 win, Burks had the biggest night of the three. The fifth-year shooting guard overcame some early struggles and hit four of his five attempts in the final quarter, scoring nine of his team-high 21 points in the frame.

"The biggest thing with Alec, and we just keep emphasizing it with him, is his decisions," Snyder said. "… I thought early in the game he wasn't doing as good a job at that. When he settled into the game, and particularly late when he found a rhythm, he was very efficient and obviously hit some big shots."

Burks dazzled with an array of buckets. He drove to the rim and dunked with authority. He also had four assists, including a behind-the-back pass to center Rudy Gobert, who finished with a reverse layup.

"He did the up-and-under," Burks said. "He want to be like me."

After he missed all but 27 games last year because of a shoulder injury, the Jazz expected some growing pains as they worked Burks back into the fold. In their eyes, that adjustment is over.

"I think we're beyond it," Snyder said. "I feel like it isn't 'Alec coming back' anymore. It's 'Alec's here.'"

Burks certainly has the confidence to be a closer for the Jazz, but the guard understands the value of teamwork and sharing that load.

"We're all versatile," Burks said of himself, Hayward and Hood. "Us three, we can do a lot with the ball, so Coach has faith in us to put the ball in our hands and make plays for ourselves and others. And that's what we did."
