Are you sick of happy pop music? Hold on, The Cure is coming.

The pioneering English rock band, fronted by Robert Smith, has announced a 22-city North American tour next spring — the group's first since 2008.

The tour will hit Utah on Friday, June 3, at the Maverik Center, 3200 S. Decker Lake Drive, West Valley City.

The Cure was pegged in the early '80s as a leader of Gothic rock. It was a label Smith always rejected, and some of the band's romantic songs — such as "Friday I'm in Love" and "Just Like Heaven" — showed how limiting that description was.

Opening the show is the Scottish post-punk band The Twilight Sad.

Tickets for the Maverik Center show go on sale this Friday at 10 a.m., at Smith's Tix.
