A teenage boy is in critical condition after a freeway crash Sunday morning in Murray.

The 17-year-old was a passenger in a Nissan driven by a 23-year-old woman, who was traveling westbound on Interstate 215, said Utah Highway Patrol spokesman Cameron Roden. About 10:55 a.m., their car veered to the right near 1400 West and hit "the support for one of those big signboards," Roden said.

The teenager was flown to the hospital in critical condition, while the driver was in fair condition. Roden was not sure whether the woman and boy are related.

Troopers are still investigating what caused the crash; "witnesses say they all of a sudden went off the road," Roden said.
