Boise, Idaho • Police say an 18-year-old man in Idaho accidentally shot and killed a 15-year-old boy while playing with a gun he believed was unloaded.

KBOI-TV reports that police say the older teen pointed the handgun at the boy's head and pulled the trigger, not realizing it was loaded.

Meridian police say they found the 15-year-old with a gunshot wound and at first believed he had committed suicide.

Officers say several people were in the room when the shooting occurred, all of them smoking marijuana and drinking alcohol. Police say they began playing with two handguns, which eventually led to the accidental shooting.

Police say at least two other adults were in the home when the shooting happened. The 18-year-old has been charged with involuntary manslaughter.
