A bicyclist was injured Saturday after a car crash in Fruit Heights.

The crash occurred at about 12:30 p.m., according to Utah Highway Patrol officials, on U.S. Highway 89 near Fruit Heights in Davis County.

An 18-year-old man was driving a Toyota MR2 south on the highway when a 56-year-old man attempted to cross from the right side of the highway to the center on his bicycle — and the two collided.

The bicyclist was wearing a helmet, UHP officials said, but did suffer a head injury. He was taken to the University of Utah Hospital by helicopter.
