A man and a juvenile teenager were arrested after a shooting incident at the Utah Drivers License Division office in West Valley City Monday morning.

West Valley City police said that initial reports were that some sort of altercation began at about 10 a.m., and it soon became an all out brawl involving multiple people at 2780 W. 4700 South.

Though it was reported that a DLD security guard fired at least one shot into the ceiling to break up the fracas, WVCPD stated that it was unknown if the shot was fired intentionally or by accident — and that it apparently occurred while the guard tried to escort one of the suspects out of the facility.

The security guard was being questioned by police Monday afternoon, WVCPD spokeswoman Roxeanne Vainuku said.

Police arrested a 21-year-old man and had detained a 17-year-old mail for questioning. The juvenile's status was unclear Monday afternoon, she said.

The man was booked into the Salt Lake County jail for investigation of assault, disorderly conduct and a protective order violation.
