A man died Monday morning on State Road 6 in Emery County when he rolled his SUV rolled down an embankment while trying to avoid traffic stopped for road construction, the Utah Highway Patrol reported.

At about 11:30 a.m., the man was driving northbound about 35 miles from Price, when came upon a line of cars waiting to be taken through a construction zone by a pilot car, the UHP reported.

The driver made an evasive lane change to the right and down an embankment, causing the 2003 Chevrolet Avalanche to roll, the UHP reported.

The driver, who was not wearing a seatbelt, suffered fatal injuries after being through the driver's window.

The man, who is from out-of-state, was not immediately identified, pending notification of next-of-kin.
