Wasatch Academy announced Monday the hiring of Curtis Condie as the school's new boys basketball coach after the sudden death of Geno Morgan in early July.

Condie spent the last two seasons as an assistant coach with Utah Valley University, with coaching stints at Louisiana Tech University, Northern Arizona University, Texas A&M-International, Central Wyoming College and Snow College. He was named Utah 2A Coach of the Year while coaching at South Sevier High School in 1997.

Morgan had coached at Wasatch Academy for six years and to three state titles before his death.

"I understand what Geno wanted to accomplish, and how he wanted do it, and the vision the administration has for this program," Condie said in a release provided by the school. "I wanted to be part of that vision, and part of the fantastic program that Geno built at Wasatch Academy."

The school will retire Morgan's college number and leave the first seat on the bench open in his honor during the season.
