A St. George toddler nearly drowned Saturday afternoon in his backyard pool.

About 12:45 p.m., dispatchers received a call about a 2-and-a-half-year-old boy who was found in an above-ground pool in his backyard. When adults pulled him from the pool, they found he wasn't breathing, said St. George Police Sgt. Dave Williams.

Dispatchers walked the adults through life-saving measures and CPR to perform on the boy, and when emergency responders arrived at the home, the boy had just thrown up and was crying, Williams said.

Paramedics took over treatment and transported the boy to Dixie Regional Medical Center, where he was expected to make a full recovery, Williams said.
