A firework in South Jordan tipped over and landed in the audience, hurting a woman.

The woman was watching the private show outside the Legacy Retirement Center, at 1617 W. Temple Lane, on Friday night. About 9:30 p.m., dispatchers were that a firework had tipped over, shot into the crowd and touched a woman's face and neck, said South Jordan Fire Battalion Chief Reed Thompson.

She suffered a cut and what Thompson estimated to be a second-degree burn. She was taken to the University of Utah Health Care Burn Center.

It was unclear why the firework tipped, Thompson said.
