Mitt Romney is among those who are expressing dismay that the Confederate battle flag is flying above the grounds of the South Carolina State House in the wake of the shooting of nine black people at a Charleston church.

"Take down the #ConfederateFlag at the SC Capitol," Romney tweeted Saturday morning. "To many, it is a symbol of racial hatred. Remove it now to honor #Charleston victims."

On Thursday, a day after the fatal shootoings, Romney tweeted: "Heaven weeps again today, this time for God's children killed in His Charleston house of prayer."
