A Salt Lake City man allegedly chased his girlfriend down, punched through her car window and was dragged about 50 feet as she drove away.

A 20-year-old man and his girlfriend had an argument Friday, after which she got in a car and left for work. The man "was unable to ultimately gain control of his emotions," loaded their 9-month-old child into a second car and allegedly chased after his girlfriend at a high rate of speed, according to a police news release.

At one point, the man allegedly cut her off near 1000 W. California Ave. and stopped, causing her to run into the back of the car, according to the release. He then got out and allegedly accosted her, punched through the driver's window and tried to open the door, the release adds.

"When he was unable to open the car door, he grabbed her by the arm," the release reads. "She was in fear for her personal safety, [and] accelerated away from the crash scene."

The boyfriend was dragged about 50 feet before he let go, police say. She then stopped, retrieved the baby, went back home and called police.

Officers found the boyfriend at a health clinic, where he was being treated for multiple injuries. He was arrested and booked into Salt Lake County jail under suspicion of criminal mischief, child endangerment and reckless driving.
