Most of a tanker's 286 barrels of crude oil spilled in a rollover near Myton.

The truck driver was hauling double tankers north on Wells Draw Road, a country road about 8.5 miles south of State Route 40, on Saturday night. About 8 p.m., he failed to negotiate a turn and his truck rolled, said Utah Highway Patrol Trooper Lawrence Hopper.

Investigators believe the driver was going too fast, Hopper added.

The crash spilled most of the tankers' oil — several thousand gallons — into a dry river bed.

The driver suffered head and back injuries and was taken to Uintah Basin Medical Center in Roosevelt, before a medical helicopter moved him to Intermountain Medical Center in Murray. His condition was not immediately available Sunday.
