A Lewiston man and his passenger were injured crashed into a deer on their motorcycle when the animal ran out in front of them.

Van Jorgensen, 48, was riding a 2014 Harley Davidson on Idaho's State Highway 34 with a passenger, Susana Jorgensen, 44. Shortly before 1 p.m., they crashed into a deer that ran into the road about 17 miles north of Soda Springs, according to Idaho State Police.

The Jorgensens, who were both wearing helmets, were taken to Caribou Memorial Hospital in Soda Springs.

An Idaho State Police dispatcher declined to specify what condition the Jorgensens were in, or their relationship.
