New York • Two people have been killed and at least three others injured in a shooting outside a New York City church where a funeral was in progress.

It happened Monday night outside the Emmanuel Church of God in Brooklyn's East Flatbush neighborhood.

Police say two men died and the remaining victims are at hospitals. There have been no arrests.

Police say a sixth shooting victim was found nearby, but it wasn't clear if that person was connected to the same shooting. The four wounded were in stable condition.

City Councilman Jumaane Williams, whose district includes East Flatbush, tells WABC-TV that the shooting was a "reckless" abandonment of life. He said he hopes authorities can prevent retaliatory shootings.
