A Unified Police officer who on Friday suffered a stroke and crashed his patrol car into a daycare business remained hospitalized Saturday, but his condition was upgraded from serious to fair, according to UPD Lt. Justin Hoyal.

The officer, 55, was headed south near 1300 E. 9100 South when, according to police, he suffered a stroke, KUTV News reported.

The officer lost control of his car, which jumped a curb and bumped into the door of a KinderCare building.

There were no other injuries involved, KUTV reported.
