A motorcyclist died Saturday after a crash near Utah Lake.

Investigators are waiting to release the 31-year-old man's name until they can notify his family, who are out of state.

He was driving the motorcycle on a dirt road near Sandy Beach, which is on Utah Lake's southeastern shore, when he attempted to pass a pickup truck, said Utah County sheriff's Sgt. Spencer Cannon.

But the pickup made a right turn and the two crashed about 3:05 p.m., Cannon said. The motorcyclist was not wearing a helmet.
