Softball • Senior Kate Dickman and sophomore Bridget Castro had three hits each to boost Utah over Stanford, 7-2, on Sunday in Palo Alto, Calif., and earn their first Pac-12 series win of the season.

The Utes (22-13, 2-7 Pac-12) beat the Cardinal, 6-3, on Friday and dropped Saturday's game, 4-2.

Utah scored all seven runs and had shut out Stanford (15-19, 1-8) before the bottom of the fifth inning.

Nevada 3, Utah State 2 • Brina Buttacavoli and Sarah Chow had two RBIs for the Aggies, but they fell to the Wolfpack in Reno.

Utes defeat Bears

Baseball • Freshman Jayson Rose and senior Brock Duke combined for 17 strikeouts on the mound to help Utah beat No. 21 California, 3-2, in Salt Lake City.

Rose allowed two runs on three hits with 11 strikeouts and one walk in his six innings of work.

Duke pitched three hitless innings and earned six strikeouts for Utah (9-17, 3-6 Pac-12).

Cody Scaggari had a two-RBI double in the three-run fifth inning. The Utes had just four hits all day.

In the previous two games of the series, California (20-7, 7-2) had scored 25 runs.

Utah Valley 3, CS Bakersfield 1 • The Wolverines had nine hits, including a solo home run from Mark Krueger and three triples.
