A 50-year-old Wellsville man died after falling from a boom truck while trimming a tree, the Cache County Sheriff's Office reported Friday.

Jeffery Glenn fell about 30 feet to the ground at about 5:30 p.m. Thursday.

Glenn, who was working in the 300 South block of 300 West in Wellsville, had tied a rope to the tree and the boom in an attempt to keep tree limbs away from power lines, the sheriff's office reported.

While Glenn was trimming the tree, the rope broke, catapulting him out of the bucket and onto a pile of wood.

Witnesses initiated CPR and called 911. Emergency medical personnel transported Glenn to Logan Regional Hospital by ambulance, where he was pronounced dead.

The case has been referred to the state Medical Examiner's office for a determination on the cause of death, the sheriff's office reported.
