Ogden • Round and round they went, passing the lead back and forth like a game of hot potato.

Miles Keller's jumper with 10.4 seconds left provided the 14th and final lead change of the second half, and Olympus hung on to burn Maple Mountain 58-57 in the final Class 4A quarterfinal Thursday night.

Maple Mountain's Jaren Hall missed a floater in the lane, and a tip-in try by Abe Durrant fell short in the final seconds in a classic.

"It was incredible," Keller said. "Can't have a better game than that. It was awesome. This year's been incredible."

Olympus (21-4) will make its third semifinal appearance in four years Friday against Kearns. Orem and Bountiful meet in the other semifinal.

After Samuel Krommenhoek's basket put Maple Mountain (18-6) ahead with 52 seconds left, Olympus coach Matt Barnes eschewed the timeout and put the ball in Jake Lindsey's hands.

The senior, who had a game-high 24 points, drove left to the baseline and kicked out to Keller, who moved left to avoid Kade Poulsen and pulled up for a 10-foot jumper that hit nothing but net.

"There was nothing going through my head," Keller said. "I was freaking out. I had my opportunity and I took it, and hopefully it went in. … I found myself a lane and took the shot."

Lindsey, who struggled with his shot in the Titans' tournament opener against East, scored 16 points in the second half. The Baylor-bound guard traded big baskets with the Golden Eagles' Poulsen, who finished with 20 points.

But it was Lindsey's decision to not force a shot on Olympus' final possession that drew praise from Barnes.

"I was so proud of Jake for not forcing it," Barnes said. "I command so much of him. He's just so calm and he cherishes the moment."

Maple Mountain capitalized on 16 offensive rebounds for 24 second-chance points.

"That was a hell of a basketball game," Barnes said. "What a high school game. … We answer, they answer, big shot after big shot. They killed us on the boards. We gave them two and three chances, five chances at times.

"That was one great basketball game." —
